Many are aware of INtheparade.com, but for those who aren’t, IN worked hard to ensure that LGBTQI visibility shined bright during the inaugural parade today. In the words of IN the Parade:
For the first time in America’s history, an openly-LGBT contingent is marching in a Presidential Inaugural Parade. The Lesbian/Gay Band Association (LGBA) has been invited to MARCH on January 20, 2009. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. And there is still more you can do!
Though I did not attend the parade, many members of Join the Impact (including co-founder, Willow Witte) made their way to Washington D.C. for this amazing event! I want to share you you some pictures taken during the parade as we, the LGBTQI community, join in making history!

This is great…Obama as president should inspire the glbt community to believe in ourselves:
All are equal
All are free
All deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness
which needs to include US.

Are trans people represented in the LGBA? I couldn’t figure this out from their website, which identifies their mission as connecting “lesbian and gay bands”, mentioning the word “transgender” only in the context of the article about the inauguration.

We are a part of the American tapestry. Nice to see us represented. The baton twerling was over the top but well done to all.

i was so happy, i took a picture of myself in front of my screen when they marched by, just as i did with Obama and Biden when they were on screen. it was a proud day all around.

Oh! I’m so angry that I didn’t get to see them marching in the parade, I was unaware that there would be a Gay/Lesbian band in the parade. I watched a lot of it but I guess I missed that part.
